Olivia Milroy Evans
I work at the intersection of contemporary poetry and poetics, narrative theory, and media studies. Currently, I hold the Shin Yong-Jin Fellowship for excellence in teaching and scholarship at Cornell, where I am completing my dissertation, “Contemporary Documentary Poetry: Rhetoric, Poetics, Form.” My work is forthcoming in Callaloo, Contemporary Literature, and Word & Image. Originally from North Carolina, I completed my BA at Wake Forest University and my MA at the University of Virginia, where I focused on 19–20th century world anglophone literature. Before entering graduate school, I taught for three years at a classical high school in Northern Virginia. Outside of my teaching and research, I enjoy writing poetry, analyzing television shows with friends, and figurative oil painting.
