Olivia Milroy Evans

I am a teacher and scholar working at the intersection of contemporary poetry and poetics, global Anglophone literatures, and media studies. I am an Assistant Professor of English at Samford University. Previously, I was the Joseph F. Martino Lecturer in Undergraduate Teaching for Cornell's Department of Literatures in English, where I defended my dissertation, “Archiving Otherwise: Contemporary Documentary Poetry” in 2021. In 2020–2021, I held the Shin Yong-Jin Fellowship for excellence in teaching and scholarship at Cornell. My work appears or is forthcoming in CallalooContemporary Literature, Word & Image, Annulet, and Jacket2. Originally from North Carolina, I completed my BA at Wake Forest University and my MA at the University of Virginia, where I focused on 19–20th century world Anglophone literature. Before graduate school, I taught at a classical high school in Northern Virginia. Outside of my teaching and research, I enjoy analyzing television shows with friends and learning to paint.
